Dr. Owashi, a native of Southern California, grew up always having a passion for patient care and started pursuing his career as a physical therapy aide, emergency room technician and certified nursing assistant prior to attending medical school. He graduated Cum Laude from University of California, San Diego with a dual major in Human Biology and Psychology. He went on to earn his medical degree at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit. Completing his orthopedic residency and Dr. Owashi was chief resident at Westchester Medical Center, the only Level 1 trauma center between NYC and Albany with the highest case mix index of all hospitals in the United States. While receiving extensive training with several renowned surgeons, Dr. Owashi was also actively involved in research and has had multiple publications and poster presentations at national conferences and meetings. Following residency, he returned back to California to complete a fellowship in adult lower extremity reconstruction and joint replacement at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, CA
