At UCSD, I'm proud to say that my co-residents are my best friends (and future bridesmaid). I can discuss operative techniques with my attendings one day, and memes the next. We get to work alongside awesome OR staff, APPs, ortho techs, and many others, who become our family over the years. At the end of the day, I believe that you get better opportunities in your career, the OR, in research, and in lifelong relationships, if you are genuinely valued and supported by the people around you.
