Biography

As a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon at Memorial Healthcare System, I specialize in treating patients with shoulder and elbow injuries and concerns. From chronic conditions to acute injuries, I handle a wide range of issues affecting the bones and tendons from the shoulder to the elbow, whether they stem from recreational activities like pickleball or everyday tasks. Common conditions I treat include shoulder arthritis, rotator cuff tears, biceps tendinitis, shoulder instability, shoulder dislocations and fractures. I have expertise in advanced procedures such as shoulder arthroplasty (including total and reverse replacements), rotator cuff repairs, muscle and tendon transfers and arthroscopic-assisted bone block procedures. I am also specially trained to treat complications related to previous shoulder replacement surgeries, such as fractures, infections or pain. My expertise is constantly growing with the newest technologies, such as CT-guided surgical planning, custom implants and mixed-reality surgery. My passion for orthopedic surgery began when, as a young athlete, I was treated by a compassionate pediatric orthopedic surgeon. Recognizing my interest in science, the physician offered me the opportunity to observe surgeries in high school. Their mentorship sparked my journey into medicine, leading me to become the first college graduate in my family. Today, I'm proud to return to South Florida and provide care with the same dedication and respect I experienced. The shoulder is a complex joint, often presenting symptoms that overlap with other areas of the body including the neck or arm. When meeting new patients, my approach involves thoroughly evaluating history, symptoms and imaging to identify the true source of pain. If the shoulder isn’t the primary issue, I guide patients toward the next steps in their care. Joint decision-making is central to my practice. I listen to patients' experiences and concerns, empowering them to make informed choices aligned with their goals. I prioritize nonsurgical treatments whenever possible, exploring all alternatives before considering surgery. If surgery is necessary, we work together with family or community support to ensure a smooth recovery and successful return to activities. My goal is to provide the most individualized solution using the best techniques and technology available. Beyond patient care, I’m actively involved in the orthopedic community. I contribute to literature reviews for leading journals like the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. I also collaborate with Johns Hopkins Orthopedic Shoulder Surgery on research and instructional surgical videos, helping to advance techniques in our field.
