Strasser completed his MD at the University of South Dakota and his residency training in orthopaedic surgery at Mayo Clinic before completing a fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at OrthoCarolina. He then joined Slocum Center for Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, where he remained as a surgeon and shareholder for nine years. In 2015, he joined PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend as orthopaedic chair, and he was named chief of surgery at PeaceHealth in 2020. Strasser, an expert in foot and ankle surgery, has extensive extramural experience — he served as a physician team captain for the 2015 USA track and field national outdoor championship and the 2016 US Olympic track and field team trials, a physician provider for the 2016 USA track and field indoor championships, an orthopaedic consultant for the Oregon Track Club elite team. He was most recently as orthopaedic foot and ankle consultant for the University of Oregon before joining Vanderbilt University Medical Center as assistant professor of Orthopaedics in the Division of Foot and Ankle Surgery.
