Biography

Dr. Paul J Cagle is an Associate Professor of Orthopaedic, Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, the Associate Residency Program Director and Chief of Quality Assurance at Mount Sinai West Hospital in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Cagle completed his undergraduate degree at St. Ambrose University where he was a two time football Academic All-American. He received his medical degree from Loyola University Chicago and completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Minnesota. During his residency, Dr. Cagle was recognized as the teacher of the year and was elected into the Arnold Gold Humanism Society. He then went on to complete one of the most prestigious Shoulder and Elbow Fellowships in the country at the Mt Sinai Hospital, New York, NY, and he then traveled to Lyon, France for additional subspecialty training at one of the most recognized Shoulder and Elbow fellowships in the world. Following fellowship, he began his career at Southern Illinois University where he quickly became the Orthopaedic Surgery Department Chairman and Director of Clinical and Translational Research. In addition, he was recognized as the surgical teacher of the year. Dr. Cagle specializes in the surgical treatment of the Shoulder and the Elbow. He has authored numerous scientific publications and has presented both at national and international meetings. Dr. Cagle is a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons, is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and an Emerging Leader in the American Orthopaedic Association.
